Thank you for visiting Upstate Natural Birth, where I am dedicated to educating women, involving husbands, and empowering couples in their journey through pregnancy to childbirth. I became a childbirth educator in late 2007 after my husband and I welcomed a beautiful little girl into our lives.
Educating couples about childbirth is my passion. I enjoy the challenge of teaching couples in all the areas of pregnancy, labor, birth, and being new parents, and it is wonderful to see them have the birth experiences that they have dreamed of. Even when things don't go perfectly, my students are well-prepared and handle the challenges they face with courage and confidence.
As you embark on this journey to natural childbirth, I encourage you to do plenty of research. Bradley students have wonderful success rates. Over 86% who have vaginal deliveries are completely un-medicated. No other education classes can come close to those numbers, nor do they have the history to back it up. The Bradley Method has been active since the 1950s and countless women have been successfully coached by their husbands and partners to have un-medicated childbirth experiences. No matter where you choose to give birth, whether at the hospital, in a birthing center, or at home, these classes are relevant and comprehensive.
I offer many 12 week courses throughout the year, and recommend that you begin taking classes at 5 or 6 months gestation. This will give you ample time to get through the classes and attend additional classes if you choose. If you are past 30 weeks gestation, you may contact me for information about an alternative class. And if a group-style class is not for you, I offer private classes for an additional fee. These classes will be scheduled on days and at times that are convenient for both parties.
Classes are small and usually range from 3 to 5 couples, with a 6 couple maximum. They are held at Labors of Love Birth Center in Spartanburg, SC.
Remember that the lower cost your birth experience is, the less you will have to pay out-of-pocket. Most insurances do not cover birth 100%, so avoiding unnecessary medications and procedures is essential to a lower cost birth.
